About the shoot:
This assignment was very fun to shoot. My model, Shelby Steele (She/They), was very comfortable with me so it was easy to communicate my ideas for the shoot. I prepared a sketched storyboard for each shot that I wanted, but was open to play. I did not want the model to feel like they had to do any work, but if she wanted to go for another vision then I am all eyes and ears. I found that storyboarding what I wanted the shot to technically be, then telling my model what I wanted out of the shot both emotion and gesture-wise worked out great. Shelby recalls the experience as “organized play”.
